I am a professional pianist and highly experienced teacher located in Doylestown borough. It gives me pleasure to share my musical knowledge and piano skills with interested people of all ages, whether they be complete beginners or more experienced players.
I am a native of Canton, Ohio. After early musical training, I attended the Julliard School and the Cleveland Institute of Music. When I was in graduate school at Indiana University in Bloomington, Indiana, I earned a Master of Music degree in piano performance. As an Assistant Professor at Kansas Wesleyan University, I taught piano and music theory courses. After moving to my husband’s hometown of Philadelphia, I taught at the city’s Settlement Music School. My husband and I moved to Doylestown at about the time the grand piano was purchased for the James Lorah Auditorium where I gave the inaugural performance. Since that time, I have presented many of my students at the auditorium, located in the heart of Bucks County, performing on that same piano during our annual recital. I invite you to listen to some of these programs in the Student Showcase section of my website. Also included are some performances from my home studio in Doylestown.
I enjoy guiding and helping students to feel, under their own fingers, such timeless classics as “Moonlight Sonata,” “Clair de Lune,” or perhaps “Rhapsody in Blue.” It can give them a real “high.” There’s a fun feeling to “tickling the ivories” with pieces like “12th Street Rag” or Billy Joel’s “Piano Man.”
